Alexandra Burke backs Cheryl Cole

The X Factor winner Alexandra Burke is backing her mentor Cheryl Cole as they battle it out in the charts.

The Girls Aloud star outsold Alexandra in just one day with her debut solo single Fight For This Love, and it looks like she will knock her student off the number one spot.

But Burke is behind her all the way, saying: “Girls Aloud have had a lot of success.

I’m hoping now Cheryl’s gone solo that she’s going to have maybe the same amount as she does in Girls Aloud or even more.”

Cole, 26, is also heading for the record books. Fight For This Love is set to become the fastest selling single of the year.

The huge record sales come after her show-stopping performance on The X Factor, and Alexandra is not surprised.

The singer said: “I thought her performance was out of this world.”
